Short Game
Putting
When putting, put the ball in the middle of your stance. Have most of your weight on the balls of your feet. On a putt you want your shot to be like a pendulum where you have the same tempo on your backswing and on your downswing. Make sure you have a square club face and the side of your feet are facing towards your target, as well as your knees and shoulders.Chipping
When chipping, have a forward press. On the downswing make sure you don't bend your wrist to hit the shot. Use your body to turn. When hitting don't slide your hips. Have most of your weight on the balls of your feet. On a chip you want your shot to be like a pendulum where you have the same tempo on your backswing and on your downswing. Make sure you have a square club face and your feet, knees, and shoulders are facing towards your target.
The difference between putting and chipping is that in chipping you use your sand wedge and your pitching wedge but in putting you use your putter.
Pitching
When pitching you want to have a lot of spin on the ball. An easy way to do that is to do a cut swing. On your backswing bring the club away from you and then on the downswing bring the club close to you. That shot will generate a fade so aim a little left of you target. On a pitch you want your shot to be like a pendulum where you have the same tempo on your backswing and on your downswing. Make sure you have a square club face and your feet, knees, and shoulders are facing towards your target.
Wedges
When hitting your wedge your ball should be in the middle of your stance. You weight should be on the balls of your feet. You should do a cut swing. To do a cut swing you want to go out in, or in other words on your backswing bring the club away from you and than on the down swing bring the club close to you. Make sure you have a square club face and your feet, knees, and shoulders are facing towards your target.
Long Game
Irons
When hitting your irons you want to have your ball in the middle of your stance. Make sure you have a square club face and the side of your feet are facing towards your target, as well as your knees and shoulders.
Driving
When hitting your driver put the ball in the front of your stance. It should be parallel with your heel of your front foot. You should have most of your weight on the balls of your feet. Make sure you have a square club face and the side of your feet are facing towards your target, as well as your knees and shoulders.
Rough
When hitting out of the rough there are two different lies (ground cover). In one, the ball is buried and none of the ball is above the grass. The other has most of the ball above the grass. In the first one when the ball is buried, take your 9 Iron, Gap Wedge, or Sand Wedge, and try to hit back on the fairway. If your ball is above the rough you can hit any club except your driver.
Different Type of Lies
Side Hill (Left)
When hitting this shot you want a narrow stance and to choke down on the club. You should aim a little right because it goes left.
Side Hill (Right)
When hitting this shot you want to widen your stance a little so that you are closer to the ball. You should aim a little to the left because the ball will go right.
Up Hill
You need to hit it further because you need to hit it up hill.
Down Hill
Side Hill, Up Hill
Side Hill, Down Hill
Types of Shots
Fade
When trying to hit a fade you want to swing out to in, in other words, swing away from you on your backswing and closer to you on your downswing.
Draw
When trying to hit a draw do an in to out swing, in other words, swing close to you on the backswing and further away from you on the downswing.
